We’ve made a few tweaks in the latest app release

As a Beanstalk user, you are probably aware that we are constantly working on the app: adding new features, ensuring it works properly with the latest IOS and Android versions, fixing bugs (yes they do slip through our testing) and so on.

Often you may not notice the changes we’ve made but as the latest release contains a couple of more obvious tweaks we wanted to highlight them. All are in response to feedback from users so thank you and please do send us your feedback and comments.

The most obvious change is that we have adjusted how the app “soft logs” you out. Currently if you put Beanstalk into background on your phone, you need to log back in when you go back to the app (apart from a few pages screens such as making an Open Banking payment where we expect you to leave the app). We did this for security reasons so someone else could not pick up your open phone and see your account details.

We’ve now made it so that if you put Beanstalk into background and return to it withing a couple of minutes, you won’t need to log in again and you will be on the same screen you were on previously. So don’t be surprised if you are not immediately logged out as you are now. (Note: You will still need to log in as per usual if you return after a couple of minutes or fully close the app.)

The second change is that when you top up via a direct bank transfer we’ve made it so that you can copy the bank account details / reference from the app. This is so you can then open your banking app and paste in the correct sort code, account number and reference.

Don’t worry if you forget to copy the details as we also include them in the top up confirmation email that is triggered when you confirm you are planning to send a contribution. As always please ensure you use the reference as this will ensure your contribution gets to the right place as quickly as possible.

We’ve also made the contact us email clickable in the support section (although this one falls into the bug category as it was always meant to be clickable but on some phones was not. Someone kindly pointed out the issue so we fixed it!)

Finally you may notice that if you click on some links in our emails you will be taken to the correct screen in the app as opposed to the home screen.
